Develop an accurate sound with the isolation between each pad when adding this digital percussion pad to your musical gear. I use this mainly for triggering midi (through Ableton and Battery). Built-in memory storage provides you with the capability to record your tracks and play in real time with up to three layers of overdub. The pad indicator lights and backlit LCD make this unit simple to operate and the USB connectivity allows you to sync your sounds and reproductions to your smartphone or computer. Roland SPD-30 V2 Octapad Digital Percussion Pad Black Version 2 1,239.00. I'm sure this is the easiest thing to do once I'm shown how. With the convenient size and rugged construction of this Roland Octapad SPD30 digital percussion pad, you can access the phase libraries and onboard kit at large or small venues. Battery 3 also has no idea what I'm asking IT to do when I strike a pad.įor God's sake this can't be that tough!!! I feel like a complete ASS and an idiot at this point. Fits the Roland Octapad SPD-30 Protects against dust, dirt.
I told the SPD-S to transmit on F# (66) but couldn't figure out how to tell what note that is in ultrabeat. Decksavers are custom-made protective covers that fit over your equipment like a second skin. I worked again this morning on trying to map the SPD-S to ultrabeat and got nowhere.
Now in ultrabeat do I have to figure out which note F#(66) is! Do I do this by counting from the bottom of the keyboard or is there something on each key that will tell me which one it is (obviously I know what the LETTER keys are, but the OCTAVE and or the NUMBER information would be useful). (Pad 7 plays F#(66) is the lingo on the SPD-S screen. How do I figure out what channel the keyboard is transmitting on?Īs well.So I've learned how to tell SPD-S which notes I want each pad to play. I think this because it takes literally 5-10 seconds to play ANY note in UB when I strike a pad on the SPD-S. Well, I've figured out that it might be possible that BOTH the keyboard I have AND the SPD-S unit is transmitting on the SAME CHANNEL- 10.
If either of those is false, then you may need to do some of the workarounds you're describing.
No need to worry about MIDI channels if you're not recording or live-playing both at once. Just set the SPD-S to transmit the notes you want Ultrabeat to play (they're pre-set in UB). Then you are making this way more complicated than it needs to be.
It was an influential device at that time, allowing drummers and percussionists the opportunity to trigger virtually any MIDI sound source without the need of a full electronic drum set. Originally to be called MPC-8 (MIDI Percussion Controller 8), but was renamed Pad-8 to avoid legal implications with MPC Electronics. Now what I have to do is TELL LOGIC that roland pad 1 is sending Midi Number C-4 or whatever, and that number should trigger something to play on Ultrabeat. The first model, introduced in 1985, was the Pad-8. I just spoke with roland.I've learned that I can change the midi NUMBER assigned to each PAD of the Roland SPD-S that will in turn transmit to Logic.
